During college I worked for some time as a teller at Wells Fargo.

Now, you may be thinking a teller’s job is simple. Process the transaction for the customer and tell them to hav a nice day. This is not the case at Wells (and all other major banks these days.)

We were supposed to sell customers things they didn’t necessarily want or need – e.g., an extra checking account, a savings account to someone who could barely keep their account out of the negative, accounts to people who already banked elsewhere and didn’t want to bank at Wells.
